Clare has been practicing as a midwife for close to fifteen years and has solid experience working with pregnant women and their families. She then went on to become a Lactation Consultant ten years ago to be able to guide mothers to a positive breastfeeding experience and assist with breastfeeding issues if they arose.
From her experience of being with women she realised the importance and power of touch during pregnancy, labour and birth. She furthered her studies and became a Massage Therapist over ten years ago and offers relaxation massage for women and pregnancy massage.
With this knowledge she started massaging babies and noticed a great response. She is now a Certified Infant Massage Instructor and can teach families how to incorporate touch into their lives through massage.
From her contact with pregnant women and new mothers she was hearing some disturbing birth stories and was finding a massage would turn into a debriefing session about their last birth or discussing their fears regarding the approaching birth. She knew that with positive antenatal education these women could be empowered to have a different and enjoyable experience. That is when she discovered Calmbirth Childbirth Education and became a facilitator. The classes have been well received and the positive birth stories are amazing. She feels blessed to be involved in having such a positive impact during such a special time in peoples lives – the birth of their precious baby.
Clare has been offering these services for the last five years since Bubboo was created.
She is currently on maternity leave until the New Year 2011 to nurture her own baby and will look forward to returning to Bubboo with her own personal experience to share.
